Why does Venmo keep a record of account information after the account has been closed and deleted?
I want my account to be closed and my card number to be completely cut off from Venmos systems. It has been over a year or two since I used Venmo. At that time, I chose to close my account as I did not anticipate additional transactions. At that time, I talked with a Venmo representative who, after a few emails, assured that my card number had been removed and my account had been terminated. Recently, I sought to open a new account to make, again, a single transaction, but I was unable to open one because my card number - which I was assured by the Venmo representative had been cancelled - was already in use on the account and I could not open it.
