User name and password for my bank?

I usually use Zelle to transfer money, but decided to download Venmo because a handful of other people needed to transfer me money and only had Venmo. But for some reason, it asks me for my username and password for my bank to register my bank account (which others say that wasn’t the case awhile ago when they registered). That is way too much information to give an app full access of my bank account. Most places only ask for the routing number and what not. Anyways, needless to say I’m deleting this app and not using it ever.
